The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State chapter has decried the high rate of housing, agency and agreement fees in the state and called on Governor Mbah to introduce law that can curb such fees
In a communiqué issued by Comrade Dame Ifeoma Amuta Secretary NUJ Enugu State Council, the Congress wants Law reducing high agency and agreement fees to be instituted to curb the hassle of renting houses in Enugu.
The congress headed by the State Chairman, Comrade Sam Udekwe after discussion on how to effectively move the union forward during its monthly meeting, also raises alarm on extortion in public schools in the instance of high price of ordinary file which it wants to be stopped.
The union called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to release result of the integrity test run on the collapsed bridge as well as relinquish the project of repairing the bridge to state government if the federal government is unable to repair the bridge, promptly.
It emphasizes that the Governor Mbah-led administration is capable of quick completion of the task.
Also, the union urged the government to expedite action on completion of repair of the collapsed bridge along new Artisan in order to ease the pressure of traffic arising from collapse of the bridge, and cautioned Indigenes and inhabitants of Enugu state to beware of fire outbreak in the current dry season.

The Congress laments the risk of Refilling gas cylinders at residential areas in the streets, and called on government to stop culprits/perpetrators by ensuring supervision aimed at sanctioning them.
The communique read further, “The Congress wants Igbo language to be promoted through its correct pronunciation in written and verbal forms.
The Congress commends Mbah-led administration of Enugu state government for rehabilitation of roads, advocating that street lights should be restored by the contractors and engineers so as to make the roads disability-friendly in all ramifications for the purpose of integration of disabled persons.
It expresses great shock over the demise of three great Media professionals, Jimmy Edeabasi Abaekong of AIT, Charles Akagu, Chapel Chairman of Daily Star and a former MD of Enugu State Broadcasting Service, Jika Attoh.
It notes that the deceased journalist, Jimmy Edeabasi Abaekong of Africa Independent Television shall be buried on Friday, 17 November, 2023.
