HATFIELD, United Kingdom, (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has blasted Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for dragging the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi into colleague John Okafor aka Mr Ibu’s ill heath.
The veteran comic actor, on Wednesday took to the internet to seek public assistance as he battles an undisclosed ailment that may cost him his leg.
Reacting to the viral video on his X handle, Reno Omokri called out Peter Obi to pay the medical bills for the ailing actor.
He stated that Mr Ibu had endorsed and campaigned for Obi as his preferred candidate during the 2023 general elections and as a result, the LP flagbearer must help the actor in his time of need.
He said he was surprised that the former Anambra State Governor did not felicite with the actor on his 66th birthday on Tuesday.
On his X handle, Omokri wrote, “I sympathise with John Ikechukwu Okafor, AKA Mr. Ibu, over his ailment, and I urge all #RenosNuggeteers to donate to the account number he put out. Please do not ignore his cries for help. I also urge members of the public to donate.
“However, this is a man who publicly endorsed Peter Obi. He and his daughter danced for Peter Obi and broke the internet. They went out on the streets campaigning for Obi. The same Peter Obi who boasted that he is richer than President Biden of the US, who at the time of Peter’s boast was worth $8.2 million.

“After all that John Okafor did for him, perhaps Mr. Peter Obi can support him by paying Mr. Ibu’s medical bills. I am even surprised that Peter Obi did not remember to post about Mr. Ibu on his birthday yesterday. Even at that, Peter Obi should help him in his time of need.”
Reacting to Omokri’s post, Kanayo in a clip shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, condemned the former presidential aide, describing him as wicked.
Kanayo stated that giving is personal and should not be used to indict others.
“As actors, our heart goes out to our dear colleague, Mr Ibu. His family has done their best since it was reported last year. And now they have come out to say we have done our best, we need public support.
“Now, I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri, who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on. It is not a friendly thing. It’s wicked. And to Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors. Shame on you too because you don’t have any value and level to call out our names.
“It’s an individual thing to support a colleague. It becomes a collective thing as Actors Guild of Nigeria. Don’t forget some people learn to give personally, privately. Even those who have given can also be appreciated on a scale of what they have given to John Okafor.
“We appreciate your efforts in giving but nobody should use it as a platform to castigate or indict those who have not given. It’s wrong and we don’t support it.
“So, this is a warning. If you want to give, give.”
We as ‘top actors’ as you call us give at our own levels. It is not very beneficial or important when we announce it.
“Don’t use our colleague’s name, John Okafor (Mr Ibu) to trend just because you want a name. Stop seeking attention.”
