ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a determined pursuit of improved justice delivery and the fulfillment of key performance objectives, the Enugu State Ministry of Justice has conducted a one-day training session for its Law Reporting Department.
This initiative was orchestrated through a collaborative effort between the Office of the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and the President of the Enugu State Customary Court of Appeal.
Addressing the participants during the training, Mr. N. N. Anya, the Director of Law Reporting and Revision, emphasized the importance of accurate law reporting for an enhanced justice system.
He acknowledged the department’s historical stagnation but expressed optimism that Governor Peter Mbah’s administration and the Attorney General’s proactive approach would soon enable regular publication of law reports covering judgments from the State High Court.
Anya called upon the Commissioner to secure necessary funding and resources to facilitate the department’s mandate.

The Lead Resource Person, T.S. Ugwuja, representing the Customary Court of Appeal, commended the Attorney-General for fostering a productive synergy between the Ministry of Justice and the Customary Court of Appeal.
He highlighted the necessity of continuous training, emphasizing that reporting judgments effectively is a skill that evolves over time through ongoing learning and practice.
Ugwuja praised the Commissioner for prioritizing the training of ministry staff.
The training covered various topics, including the significance of precise law reporting, the enhancement of skills throughout the law reporting processes, and the advancement of law reporting through collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Courts.
Ugwuja urged the law officers to apply the lessons learned during the training diligently to contribute to optimal justice delivery through accurate and comprehensive law reporting.
At the conclusion of the training, Barrister Ify Ik-Obi, on behalf of the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, extended gratitude to the Resource Person and his team for delivering an extensive training session.
