LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Former NFL standout Sergio Brown has been declared missing following the discovery of his mother’s lifeless body near a stream behind her residence.
Relatives of the 35-year-old former football star informed Illinois authorities that they had been unable to contact either Sergio or his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, on Saturday, 16 September.

The authorities have determined her death to be a homicide, citing multiple injuries consistent with an assault, as confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday, 17 September.
Sheila Simmons, the sister of the victim, revealed that her last conversation with Brown was on Thursday, 14 September.
On Saturday morning, she learned that her sister and nephew were missing, stating, “We’re determined to uncover the truth because it’s highly unusual for my sister to ignore calls and texts.”
Sergio’s brother, Nick Brown, took to Facebook in a heartfelt plea for the ex-NFL star’s return, saying, “I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
