In a sad turn of events, Nigerian rapper and singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has reportedly passed away on Tuesday, 12 September, 2023.

The entertainment industry and fans alike have been thrown into a state of mourning after reports from entertainment journalist Ovie and close associates confirmed that the KPK crooner had passed away.

See screenshots of reactions to his demise below:

In January 2023, Afropop singer, Bella Shmurda, revealed how fellow artiste, Mohbad, attempted to end his life following a disagreement he had last year with Marlian Records, his former record label.

The ‘Philo’ crooner revealed this when he had a sit-down with Chude Jideonwo on the latest episode of #WithChude.

Speaking on his tweet when Mohbad was in conflict with his previous label, Marlian Music, he shared: “Mohbad is my brother, and before I spoke out, I had been in this thing. Though it was low-key. I saw what happened, even from the first time till this second time.

“I have always been in the loop of things, but at that point, someone had to speak for him. At a point, Myself and Mohbad were in an apartment, and he said he wanted to jump from upstairs.”

He narrated how Mohbad was going to take his own life but was saved by his girlfriend, who got in just in time.

“You can’t just keep going under and these people are just forming there’s nothing happening. Something is happening, and it is going to the extreme,” he added.

Mohbad is a former artiste signed with Marlian Records, which is owned by Naira Marley.

But in October 2022, the fast-rising singer alleged assault by the record label’s owner.

Mohbad also claimed that staff members of the music label assaulted him for requesting a new manager.

In his reaction, Marley had alleged that Mohbad was “high” when making the allegations.

Bella Shmurda slammed the Marlian Records boss over the alleged assault, while Mohbad terminated his contract with the label.

In February 2022, Mohbad alleged that his record label and its boss wanted him dead.

In a disturbing video from live Instagram that has since gone viral, the talented music act was seen shouting and saying, “My God will never mess me up. I’m in the estate. Don’t let anyone near me, please. Just the policemen. I thought I didn’t know what I was doing, but look at all these people.”

“Don’t open the gate for anyone. Please, I don’t want to die. I don’t know why these people are behaving like this to me. Everybody in the world; everybody, if I die, it’s Marlian music of Naira Marley that killed me.”

“They have been doing bad things to me. I went mad because of these. Now, they’re trying to kill me.”

Some individuals were seen surrounding him in a dimly lit vicinity while he screamed that he did not want to be killed. This development is coming amidst his ordeal with the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

Recall that Mohbad and Zinoleesky were both arrested in a raid by NDLEA on Thursday.

According to Femi Babafemi, a spokesperson of NDLEA, the singers were arrested alongside four others after some cannabis and molly were recovered from their apartment and car.
