LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has advised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to temporarily bench new signing Kai Havertz due to a perceived lack of confidence.

Petit expressed sympathy for Havertz’s recent performance against Manchester United, where he felt the German player was hesitant and not playing to his potential.

“I felt pity for him on Sunday… I still believe he has great qualities. We haven’t seen this since he came to England, and he’s struggling.

“But Sunday, he was hiding everywhere,” Petit remarked in an interview with Compare.bet.

Petit recommended Arteta consider placing Havertz on the bench, not as a punishment, but as a way to allow him to regain confidence and composure.

He noted that Havertz seems afraid to attempt plays and lacks the confidence to contribute effectively to Arteta’s team.

Despite his struggles, Havertz has yet to record a goal or assist for Arsenal since his £65 million transfer from Chelsea.

Arteta has supported Havertz and provided motivation, while the player will aim to make a more significant impact when Arsenal returns to action against Everton after the international break.

Havertz is currently with the German national team for friendlies against Japan and France.
