LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Bukayo Saka has expressed his gratitude after being honoured with the 2023 Men’s PFA Young Player of the Year award, triumphing over stiff competition, including Erling Haaland.
Saka faced a challenge from last season’s Premier League top scorer, Erling Haaland, and former Brighton, now Chelsea midfielder, Moises Caicedo.
Nonetheless, the Arsenal standout secured the esteemed award. Saka personally accepted the trophy at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester on Tuesday.
In response to receiving this accolade, Saka took to social media, sharing, “PFA Young Player. Accepting this award and joining the ranks of past winners is a true honor for me.

“To gain recognition from fellow players holds incredible significance! My gratitude to the PFA, and I extend my congratulations to all the other winners and nominees this evening.”
With an impressive record of 14 goals and eight assists, Saka played a pivotal role in guiding Arsenal to their most successful Premier League finish in over two decades.
Despite leading the title race for a significant portion of the season, Arsenal ultimately yielded the trophy to Manchester City, who caught up in May.
The English international is set to return to action on Sunday when Arsenal takes on Manchester United in the Premier League.
