Joseph had allegedly assaulted a Police Officer on duty who had tried to stop him from causing traffic obstruction with his vehicle.

Ruling on the case which is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law and which Benjamin pleaded guilty to, Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos sentenced him to prison without an option of fine.

While delivering the verdict, the Magistrate noted that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other would-be offenders in the future.
