LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Christophe Galtier, Paris Saint-Germain head coach, has been fired and Julian Nagelsmann is expected to be hired in his place.
Le Parisien claims that on Tuesday morning, PSG’s football advisor Luis Campos informed Galtier of the club’s choice, with an official announcement to follow.
Galtier only spent one season in the hot seat at Parc des Princes, despite leading the team to the 2022–23 Ligue 1 championship, because of the harsh criticism he received after the team’s Champions League round of 16 loss to Bayern Munich.
He was hired on a two-year deal last summer, making him PSG’s seventh permanent manager since the Qataris took over the club in 2011.
Under his leadership, the French giants were able to defend their Ligue 1 title by finishing one point ahead of second-place Lens, but they regressed on the European stage as he struggled to get the best performance from star players like Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Galtier was accused of racism in April as well, allegedly dating back to his time as Nice’s manager. As PSG’s most recent season ended in disappointment, club executives gradually lost faith in Galtier.
Nagelsmann, the former manager of Bayern Munich, is currently in advanced negotiations with PSG officials and is the front-runner to succeed Galtier in the Parc des Princes dugout, according to Foot Mercato.
Thierry Henry, a former Arsenal player, may join Nagelsmann at the club. He has been unemployed since being brutally fired by Bayern in March.
Given that Henry previously shared the same position with Roberto Martinez with the Belgian national team, the Qatari ownership has decided that Henry is the best choice to be Nagelsmann’s assistant.
