LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-WhatsApp Messages that have previously been sent can now be edited due to a new feature earlier revealed by Meta.
According to The PUNCH, users of the instant messaging service can alter messages even 15 minutes after they are sent, thanks to the new functionality.
“For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp.
“We’re excited that you’ll now have more control over your chats, such as correcting misspellings or adding more context to a message.
“For this, within 15 minutes of sending the message, you have to tap and hold that message for a while and then select the option of ‘Edit’ from the menu.”

The methods listed below will allow you to edit sent messages on WhatsApp as the instant messaging service has introduced the ability to edit messages rather than delete them:
- Launch WhatsApp conversation
- Keep your finger on a message that has been sent for a long time.
- For up to fifteen minutes after, select “Edit” from the menu, which is positioned at the top of your right hand.
- The word “edited” will appear next to altered messages.
Even if recipients did not see the “edit” history, they would be aware of the correction.
According to Meta, the feature is already being rolled out to users and will be accessible to everyone in a few weeks.
