ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Reports from Kogi State have it that the Governor, Yahaya Bello, has signed five bills into law to advance peace and security.
The bills included the establishment of a health science and technology college, providing for teachers’ retirement, establishing a roads fund management board, and allowing the peaceful celebration of cultural festivals.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed.
According to Bello, the bills aimed to advance cultural development, maintain peace and security, and manage the development of roads in Kogi State.

Governor Bello emphasized the importance of the bills in improving rural infrastructure and transforming the lives of the state’s people.
He thanked the Kogi State House of Assembly for their performance and commended the state Attorney General for ensuring compliance with existing laws.
According to the statement, the signing ceremony occurred at the Government House in Lokoja. Dignitaries, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Attorney General, and the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, attended it.

On his part, the Speaker of the Kogi House of Assembly, Mr Mathew Kolawole, expressed joy that the bills were passed and signed into law.
Kolawole thanked Governor Bello for promoting a harmonious working relationship between the executive and the legislature and fostering a peaceful atmosphere.
The Speaker also commended the Governor’s commitment to enacting those laws as a sign of his dedication to the development and progress of Kogi State.
