LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Rivers State Commissioner for Education Prof Prince Chinedu Mmom JP has announced the immediate suspension of the principal of Government Secondary School Borokiri Mr. Ewoh Ella over what he described as his engagement in criminal actions.

The Commissioner announced the suspension during his routine monitoring of the WAEC examination earlier today in schools within Port Harcourt.

Ewos was accused of denying students of the school the opportunity of taking part in the ongoing examination being organized by the West African Examination Council and illegally enlisting external candidates after allegedly collecting money  from them.

Prof. Mmom said the action of the principal is criminal, adding that he has admitted to the crime and the law must take its course. He encouraged the students to register for the forthcoming NECO examination such that they don’t miss out on all external examinations this year.

He re-echoed that the State Government through the Ministry of Education has zero tolerance for all forms of examination malpractice either by students, principals, supervisors, or teachers stating that anyone caught will be shown the way out.

Commissioner Mmom further called on those extorting money from students in the name of math set and entrance fees into the examination hall to desist from such acts adding that examination monitors from the ministry have been sent out to various schools to monitor on a daily basis, warning that anyone caught will be dealt with accordingly.

Describing the conduct of the examination as seamless judging from what he saw, Prof Mmom noted that he was satisfied with the entire process for now and wished that it continued that way till the end of the examination.
