LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The parent company of WhatsApp, Meta, stated in a blog post on Monday that the new Chat Lock feature “lets you protect your most intimate conversations behind one more layer of security.“

CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg wrote in his Instagram broadcast channel, “New locked chats in WhatsApp make your conversations more private,” They are not visible in alerts and are kept secret in a password-protected folder.

What, then, will it entail? If you choose Chat Lock for a particular chat, it will move from your main inbox to a different folder that can only be opened with your phone’s password or fingerprint.

For that locked chat, the sender and message will be concealed in any notifications that get on your phone.

This is how you can lock a WhatsApp chat:

  • Get WhatsApp open.
  • Tap a person’s or a group chat’s name.
  • Choose Lock.

However, this is how to access WhatsApp’s protected chats:

  • Pull down on the conversations tab slowly.
  • Type in the fingerprint or passcode for your phone.
  • Your locked chats will then become visible.

According to WhatsApp, the Chat Lock feature is currently rolling out, which also announced that it will soon support Wear OS watches.

Over the coming months, Chat Lock will also gain more features, such as custom chat passwords and talks that can only be accessed by certain devices, such as your smartwatch.

Also, here are three more nefarious WhatsApp features, information on syncing WhatsApp with a task management tool, and instructions for installing WhatsApp on a desktop.
