LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Champions League knockout rounds’ events have only served to intensify the competition for the Golden Ball, which is already well under way.
Apparently, the 2023 Ballon d’Or campaign is about to come to a close, and some of the best footballers in the world are hoping to be the one to lift the Golden Ball in Paris later this year in place of 2022 champion Karim Benzema.
Given that the World Cup will occur in the middle of the 2022–23 season, it was expected to be a unique Ballon d’Or competition and by the time voting takes place in August, it may already be forgotten.
However, it is undeniable that several players’ prospects of vying for the Golden Ball have increased as a result of their prominent roles in Qatar, even if the Champions League knockout stages are already underway.
