Embattled American actress Amber Heard, has reportedly quit acting in Hollywood and has moved to Madrid, Spain.
According to Daily Mail’s Alison Boshoff, in an article published on Thursday, a friend of Heard said, “I can reveal that Heard has quit Hollywood and quietly relocated to Spain with her young daughter, Oonagh.”
He added: “She’s bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise.”
The pal also told the outlet that the 37-year-old actress may one day return to Tinseltown.
“I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right, for the right project,” the friend explained.
Heard’s alleged move to Spain comes nearly a year after her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Depp, 59, sued Heard for $50 million in 2019, claiming she lied about him abusing her only to obtain more money in their divorce settlement.
One year later, his ex-wife countersued him for $100 million. The trial ended in June 2022 with the court ordering Heard to pay Depp $10 million in compensatory damages plus $350,000 in punitive damages for defaming the “Cry Baby” actor in a 2018 op-ed piece she wrote for The Washington Post.
Heard later asked the judge to toss the jury’s verdict and requested a retrial, claiming that the judgment wasn’t supported by evidence.
Months after losing a multimillion defamation case to Johnny Depp, Heard sold her Yucca Valley, California home in July 2022 for $1.1 million.
Since then, she has spent plenty of time in Spain. Last October, the “Aquaman” star was photographed flaunting her bikini body on the beaches of Palma de Mallorca.
During an exclusive presentation to CinemaCon audience members, Warner Bros released the first trailer for DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
The sequel starring Jason Momoa as the underwater superhero also sees Amber Heard’s character Mera make a brief cameo, according to reports from the festival.
Heard’s role in the sequel came under question during her high-profile defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp last year.
Deadlinereported Tuesday that Heard “does have a cameo” in the trailer “but in a battle scene”.
During the trial, Heard testified that her part in the film was significantly cut down after Depp’s legal team called her abuse claims a “hoax”.
“I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film,” she said.
DC film head Walter Hamada was called to testify in court about Heard’s diminished screen time. He contradicted her legal team’s claim that the role was altered as a result of the allegations against Depp.
“The size of the role in the film that she has was determined in the early development of the script,” Hamada said at trial, citing a lack of chemistry between Heard and the film’s lead Jason Momoa as the reason behind her cut down screentime.
