LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Ikeja Magistrate’s court sitting, Lagos, has arraigned one Mohammed Sulaimon for stealing and absconding with his customers’ 13 million naira.
Sulaimon is an alleged business man who transacted with individuals identified as Happiness Edu, Akinyefa Oyeleke, Oloyede Kehinde Joseph, and absconded to Jos without fulfilling his own part of the business.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate H.B Mogaji facing a three-count charge bordering on theft and obtaining by false pretense.
According to the Prosecutor, Christopher John, the defendant had collected the huge sum of money from all three complainants under the pretense of delivering his own part of the business.
After several weeks of reaching out to Sulaimon, the complainants realized he had taken their monies and absconded. They however, tracked his whereabouts to Jos.
The Charge reads in part; “That you, Mohammed Sulaimon ‘M’ on the 16th day of December, 2021 at about 1150hrs and other subsequent date at Shola Martins New Oko-Oba, Abule-Egba Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal the sum of Six Million Five Hundred Naira (6,500,000) property of one Happiness Edu ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to 280 and punishable under section 287 of the criminal code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
Sulaimon however, pleaded not guilty of all three charges.
Magistrate H.B Mogaji charged the defendant a bail sum of N500,000, two sureties with one being a blood relation of the defendant and ordered that the defendant be detained pending perfection of bail condition.
The case was adjourned till 25 May, 2023 for mention.
