LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Justice Sikiru Adeyinka Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court has passed away after a brief illness.

He battled with a neck-related illness and was once flown to India for treatment but died at 58 years while in active service, sources disclosed.

The Judge was, until his death, in the active service of the Kwara State Judiciary.

Justice Oyinloye is the second judge of the Kwara State High court, to die in active service after Justice Titilayo Daibu who died in a hospital in Abuja on 21 November, 2022, after a brief illness.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, described his passing as a painful and great loss.

Abdulrazaq described the late Justice Oyinloye as an upright jurist in the State judiciary.

“We join the Kwara State Judiciary and the Nigerian Bar (Association) to mourn the unfortunate death of Hon. Justice Oyinloye, a very upright and brilliant judge.

“We are consoled by the fact that he left a legacy of uprightness, hard work, and brilliance for which he was known within and outside of the court system,” the Governor said in a statement on Sunday night, hours after the development.

“Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, the Kwara State judiciary, the good people of Isin Local Government, and everyone who mourns the late judge. We pray Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort the family that survived him.”
