LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Frank Lampard has stated that his team’s Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid is still alive as Chelsea attempt to turn the match around.
The Blues lost the first leg of the match 2-0 and now have a difficult task ahead of them against a hot Carlo Ancelloti team.
However, Lampard acknowledged the challenge at hand in remarks made before the game.
The football player stated that there is always a chance of creating something exceptional because he has been around Chelsea and sport for a long enough time.
“Anything is possible in football and there’s no doubt that we’re a competitive team and we deserve to be here in this stage of the competition,” Lampard said.
“We also understand that the opponent is really high-level, but if we get things right, if we work hard, if we do the right things in the game, then anything is possible.”
The acting coach added that he anticipates a welcoming atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, which his players will tap into to contribute.
“I’ve been here too often at this level of the game at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on a midweek evening Champions League knockout game, so I know the atmosphere is going to be fantastic.
“Then it’s up to us to tap into that early in the game and make sure we engage the crowd throughout because they can help us when we’re at home. That’s why this two-legged competition is the best out there. I’m confident in that, we just need to play our part.”
