LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA )-Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, has apologized to the club’s fans on Instagram after missing a key penalty against West Ham on Sunday.
Early in the second half of his team’s match against West Ham at the London Stadium, the England international had the chance to give Arsenal a 3-1 lead but absolutely flubbed his lines by sending his penalty well wide of the post.
After West Ham scored an equalizer, the Gunners were forced to settle for a point, which gives championship contender Manchester City new life in their pursuit of the trophy.
Following the contest, Saka says: “Regardless of the outcome, I’ll always accept my responsibility. Apologies Gunners, I’ll do everything I can to make it right.”
Currently, Man City have a game in hand over Arsenal and is just four points ahead of them in the Premier League. After being held by Liverpool in a thrilling game at Anfield last week, the Gunners have allowed 2-0 leads to slip in back-to-back games.
Saka hopes to be back in Mikel Arteta’s lineup when Arsenal take on Southampton next Friday. Preparations will then begin for their huge clash with City at the Etihad Stadium on 26 April.
