St. Francis Catholic Church located in Owo, Ondo State, has been reopened for religious activities ten months after it was attacked by gunmen.

Recall that on 5 June, 2022, gunmen attacked the church and killed some of the worshippers while many were left injured.

The State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, had visited the scene to commiserate with the church and the entire town.

Relief materials and funds were donated to victims and families of those who lost their loved ones.

In March 2023, Akeredolu who is an indigene of the town, disclosed that the construction of a memorial park in honour of the victims of the attack has begun.
