ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA and) – Peter Obi, the Labour Party, (LP) presidential candidate, has condemned the killing of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), in Benue State and the abduction of some residents in Wanzamai village in Zamfara State.
Obi who made the condemnation on Sunday, urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to take extraordinary measures to address the menace.
He regretted that such actions were negatively impacting Nigeria.
Recall that several people were recently killed in the Umogidi community, Entekpa-Adoka, in the Otukpo Local Government Area of the State.
Reacting to the incidents, the former Anambra State Governor, Obi expressed his condolences to the families of those killed.
Tweeting, he wrote: “I am deeply saddened by reports of the visceral violence and gruesome killing of the internally displaced people (IDPs) in Benue state and other parts of Benue, and the kidnapping of dozens of people in Wanzamai village in Zamfara.
“Such bloodletting is unconscionable, and stands condemned. Government and all stakeholders must take extraordinary measures to address this menace that is impacting negatively on our existence as a nation.”
