LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Three passengers have lost their lives in a bus crash on the expressway by Government Technical College, in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to Punch, the vehicle went up in flames after the crash, leaving about 13 other passengers with varying degrees of injury.

The spokesman for the state Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, saying the crash involved a commercial vehicle with number plate XE 222 TRN in transit from the Ajingi Local Government Area to Kofar Wambai.

According to him, a call came through from one Muktar Yusuf, alerting them of the incident involving a commercial vehicle with 18 passengers onboard and the fire outbreak afterwards.

Abdullahi further disclosed that three females, Zeenai Babji, Surayya Umar, and a yet-to-be-identified passenger, lost their lives, while 13 others sustained injuries.

The causalities were immediately rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment.

However, Saminu said the driver, 35-year-old Muhammed Gali, alongside his conductor, Hassan Danladi (both unhurt), have been handed over to a policeman, Inspector Abubakar Ahmad, of the Nassarawa Police Division, for further investigation.

Attributing the cause of the incident to reckless driving, Abdullahi advised motorists to always drive with caution to prevent any unfortunate disaster in future.
