LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A Magistrates Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has remanded a 27-year-old man for defiling a nine-month-old baby at Ijora Badia area of the State.

Recall that voiceofnaija.ng had previously reported that the suspect was detained by the Lagos State Police Command for his atrocity and sent to the State command’s Gender Section.

The suspect was said to have entered the apartment where the baby’s mother had left her in an effort to quickly buy something .

Adebayo reportedly had sexual intercourse with the nine month old and immediately ran away from the scene.

According to a source, the suspect admitted that his initial plan was to sleep with the 16-year-old mother claiming she was into prostitution.

However, the 16-year-old mother of two insisted she had never met Adebayo or engaged in any sort of business with him.

The suspect was brought before Magistrate E. Kubeinje facing a one count charge.

According to the prosecutor, DSP K. Ajayi, the offence committed is punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charge reads: “That you, Agboola Adebayo ‘m’ on the 23rd day of March, 2033 at No 3 White Sand area Ijora Badia, Lagos State in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully had sexual Intercourse with one ‘f’ aged 9 months and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law Of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

No plea was however taken for the charge.

Kubeinje said the defendant should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

The case was adjourned 3 May, 2023.
