    Lagos Court Arraigns Four Culprits For Phone Theft, Assault Of Police Officer

    LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos, has arraigned four male suspects for allegedly stealing telephones valued at N370,000 in total and assaulting a policeman at Ijora Area of the State.

    The defendants, identified as Abiodun Akinola, Abdullahi Jimoh, Olalekan Eyiomo, and Omomuzo Arume, were arraigned before Magistrate P. E. Nwaka, on eight counts of conspiracy, theft and assault.

    They were alleged to have stolen one Samsung A03 valued at N120,000, the property of one Anosike Henry and an iPhone 11 valued at N250,000, and the property of one Ogadinma Oluwabukola.

    Thomas Nurudeen, the Prosecuting Counsel, told the court that the offences contravened Section 280 and are punishable under Sections 411, 232, 328, 117(1)(2), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

    The charges read in part, “That you, Abiodun Akinola, Abdullahi Jimoh, Olalekan Eyiomo, Omomuzo Arume, and others still at large on March 24, 2023, around 8am at Ijora Badia, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”

    However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    The magistrate, Nwaka, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

    The case was adjourned till 5 May 2023, for trial.
