ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been kicked out of office.
His sack comes following his suspension as member in his ward.
Following a recent Court Order from the Benue State High Court, Ayu has been immediately replaced by the Deputy National Chairman, (North), Umar Iliya Damagum.
Damagum will, henceforth, resume office as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, pending the determination of the case in court.
It would be recalled that a High Court in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, had restrained Senator Ayu from parading himself as chairman of the party pending the determination of the substantive suit which has been adjourned to 17 April, 2023 for hearing.
In spite of the court order, Ayu had insisted he remained chairman of the PDP to the extent of even resuming at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.
