ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A member of Peter Obi Labour Party’s legal team at the Presidential Election Tribunal, Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, SAN, says Peter Obi is not behind the news alleging that Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola disguised himself on a wheel chair to meet President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London.
Okutepa who described the news as fake, debunked Obi’s involvement in the purported story.
On Thursday, reports showed that the CJN met Tinubu in London to influence the judiciary ahead of a presidential election tribunal hearing.
But on Friday, the Director of Press at the Supreme Court, Festus Akande, in a statement, debunked the news saying it is false.
Reacting, Okutepa, in a series of tweets on official Twitter handle on Friday, said those linking Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), to the fake news are being mischievous and satanic.
He said also that Obi has respect and confidence in the judiciary that is why he approached the court for justice.
Okutepa urged Nigerians not to bring the judiciary into disrepute and shame.
According to him, citizens must respect the men and women on the Bench.
He added that those who feel wronged about the rotten eggs in the system should channel their criticism through civil manners, not resorting to lies.
“That I am in the legal team of HE Peter Obi does not stop me from speaking the truth.
“HE Peter Obi does not represent and does not promote fake news.
“Those attributing the news of CJN disguising to meet a politician [to] at Peter Obi are mischievous and satanic,” he posted.
