LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A 28-Year-Old man, Kuye Ibrahim, has been arrested and detained at the Gowon Estate Police Station, Egbeda, for allegedly breaking into a residence and stealing three bottles of beer valued at N150.
The suspect had reportedly broken into a house on 18 March, by climbing the gate of the compound owned by one Uche Uba.
According to the complainant, the suspect was dragged to court because the security company was keen on bringing the perpetrator to book as the community could not figure out if the suspect intended to steal more than he obtained.
The suspect stated that he perpetrated the act because of hunger and inability to cater for himself.
Ibrahim revealed that he was the heir apparent to the throne in his home town somewhere in the city of Abeokuta, but unfortunately for him, his family sent him away from the village in a bid to sell the throne.
He further said that he came to Lagos and found himself being oppressed and pressurized by family members in Lagos to sell his deceased parents’ house where he currently lives.
Due to his refusal to sell his inheritance, the family members were hell bent on giving him a tough time.
He found it hard to get jobs in his neighborhood due to the influence of his family.
As a higher institution drop out, he had to resort to menial jobs but could not secure any, hence the decision to invade a property and steal anything he could lay hands on.
