ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere has asked the electorate in Lagos State to vote Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office.
According to the group, if Sanwo-Olu remains the Governor, the state will not become an opposition State.
Afenifere argued that Governor Sanwo-Olu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had performed creditably in terms of development and deserved a second term.
In a statement signed by his Administrative Secretary, Chief Oladiran Adesua, the leader of the apex Yoruba group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, said an extension (Lagos) of Yorubaland and the economic hub of Nigeria could not afford to be in opposition with the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the president-elect.
“I, therefore, wish to add my voice to those of other patriotic Lagosians who believe that there is a need for continuity in the state by lending my support to the second term bid of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Governor of Lagos State.
“In addition, I believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as APC president will benefit Lagos State more if the state has an APC governor to complement whatever the President has for Lagos State,” the statement partly reads.
