LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Troops of the Sector 3 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) successfully repelled an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP),In Monguno, a northern region of Borno State.
Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency specialist and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, was informed by sources that the terrorists entered the town with heavy weaponry at around 2:30am on 5th March, through the Abbari community and Charly 6 formation.
According to the sources, the soldiers of the MNJTF quickly engaged the invading attackers in a violent gun battle that lasted for about 30 minutes, successfully driving them back.
At the time of filling this report, it was uncertain how many people from either sides were hurt or killed.
Monguno, a town in the north-eastern part of Borno State, has over time, seen the killing of hundreds of civilians, the abduction of women and girls, the destruction of towns, and the large-scale forced displacement of populations.
