Child Paternity: Police Officer Shoots Self Dead After Killing Partner

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A mobile Police officer has reportedly shot himself dead after shooting and killing a yet-to-be-identified woman over paternity issue of their child in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital .

The odd incidence occurred at the Chapel Redemption, UMCA, Agba Dam area of Ilorin.

According to unconfirmed allegations, the Police officer committed the crime over a paternity issue on a child arising from their relationship.

The mobile Police officer, identified as Olalere Micheal, was until the incident, attached to the Government House, Ilorin.

It was gathered that the deceased Police officer had reported in the office, signed for his weapon and headed to the woman’s location.

According to reports, he arrived at the scene, shot the woman dead, and then turned the gun on himself, killing himself.

The unfortunate incident reportedly caused confusion within the State Police Command as it became a subject among officers and personnel.

SP Okasanmi Ajayi, spokesman for the State Police Command in his statement to Journalists, disclosed that an investigation into the event had been launched to determine what went wrong.

He stated that following a Police investigation, the Police command would publish a statement regarding the situation.
