LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – 24-year-old, Onyeka Nwanfor, has been remanded by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos State, for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman and robbing Henry Ajayi of eight phones worth N5 million with a fake gun.
Magistrate Mrs. E. Kubenje made the order after the defendant who is facing four counts bordering on robbery and rape was arraigned by the police.
The prosecutor, ASP Ola Olasiyan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on 20 August,2022.
He claimed that the defendant engaged in sexual activity with a 30-year-old woman in the Magodo region of the state while allegedly robbing Henry Ajayi of eight different phones worth a total of five million naira.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Sections 299, 297(1), 298(3) and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Onyeka Nwanfor, and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did rape a woman, 30, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The defendant’s plea was rejected by the magistrate, Ms. E. Kubenje.
While the matter was adjourned till 28 March for mention, Kubenje remanded Nwanfor in a correctional facility .
