ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the death of two persons after thugs set ablaze the campaign office of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The incident occurred in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
This was made known by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Monday.
Haruna said four of the suspected hoodlums were arrested.
“At about 1600hrs, reports were received that, while the collation of results was ongoing at Tudun Wada Local Government Area INEC Office, a group of thugs in large numbers mobilised and attacked the campaign office of NNPP House of Representatives candidate and set the building ablaze.
“Two unknown persons in a stationary vehicle inside the building were burnt to death as a result of the inferno,” Haruna said in a statement made available to journalists.
He said that the suspected hoodlums again mobilized and attempted to block the road leading to the INEC Office, adding that security personnel were immediately mobilized to the scene.
SP Haruna explained that one of the thugs was injured and was rushed to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The Police spokesman said investigation is ongoing after which the suspects would be taken to court.
