LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Soldiers have reportedly taken position to secure the streets in Lagos Island, Lagos, after hoodlums attacked and harassed market owners.

What necessitated this action was the announcement that Labour Party defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, where the presidential candidate of the latter hails from.

Reports on Monday morning had it that the hoodlums’ attack began in the Lagos-Island axis of Lagos State.

It was gathered that businesses and properties in the area’s commercial districts were devastated by the threat as people fled for safety.

However, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyjin in a statement, claimed the violence was caused by traders who reneged on an agreement not to open shops on Sunday and Monday.

The Army personnel have now been sighted in their various positions in the widely circulated online image, attempting to defend the streets.
