LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the Niger North senatorial race.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bello received 100,197 votes, and having met all requirements, was deemed the winner by the INEC returning officer, Zacchaeus Kolo, who made the announcement of the results.
In the race for the Niger North Senate seat, Bello defeated the PDP and NNPP candidates, who polled 88,158 and 13,886 votes, respectively.
Recall that bandits had tried to stop the Governor’s convoy from moving to cast his votes on Friday evening, when they blocked a section of the road.
He overcame that hurdle in record time to win the election and emerge as winner of his senatorial district.
