IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The arrival of Chinedu, the son of the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, at an event, has sparked controversy on social media.
Netizens raised eyebrows over the long convoy that the Governor’s 21-year-old son arrived in.
A tweep, Oluadah Equiano said: “The 5 No SUV security convoy of the son of the Abia State governor Mr Chinedu Ikpeazu. Chinedu’s father has presided over a state where civil servants and teachers have been impoverished by backlog of salary arrears and general maladministration.”
Another tweep, @BayoOlupohunda, wrote: “I am not even surprised one bit. In one state in the South South. All the governors appointees are redundant. The governor’s son is the Chief-of-Staff, cousin is Media Adviser. The wife fixes all appointments. Even commissioners do nothing. This is the situation in many states.”
@frankmezor tweeted: “Anybody that follows southeast politics will know we don’t count Abia state, they’ve had the worst governors in the southeast since inception, from Orji Uzo Kalu, to Theodore Orji and now Okezie Ikpeazu.
“I feel for Abians, they’ve had it difficult in terms of leadership.”
@kanyinsola007, who seemed to disagree with most commentators, said he doesn’t see anything wrong with the video.
“Wait I don’t see anything wrong with this, his father send him to represent him and he did.”
“At what capacity, as a deputy or as a chief of staff?
“Dont be silly, use ur sense when contributing to issues like this. Which constitution gives him the power to represent a governor of a state? You kids need a lot of learning to do,” Ghost replied @kanyinsola007
@eric_belushi, while commenting, also wrote: “Can you just imagine? Corruption at it’s Peak…”
In another tweet, he said he is tired of the State. “Me sef I do tire for the state. From O. Uzoh Kalu till date, na nonsense men dey head the state! So Pathetic!”
A Facebook user, Oluwagbemiga Oladayo, said: “See how the MC they brainwash them, the son of his excellency is also an excellency.”
