IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar is in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for the party’s presidential campaign.
He arrived at about 12 noon on Thursday and was accompanied by members of the PDP National Working Committee and the Presidential Campaign Council.
Conspicuously missing at the arrival section of the airport was the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is against the party’s choice of President, alongside a few other Governors on the party’s platform.
The campaign team was received by some officials and members of the party in the state.
Atiku took to his Facebook page to share photos from the campaign alongside a caption, “I just landed in Ibadan for what promises to be a historic political rally. -AA #RecoverSouthWestWithPDP”
Like Makinde, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and some of his loyalists, especially those contesting senatorial and House of Representatives seats on the platform of the party shunned the party’s rally in Ekiti.
Makinde and four other Governors of Rivers, Benue, Abia and Enugu were not disposed to the campaign of the former Vice-President following his insistence that the party chairman, Iyorchia Ayu would not vacate his seat as national chairman of the PDP.
