Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has reacted to the accusations levelled against some men in Police uniform assaulting a lady at Lekki Phase 1.

The video of the assault was shared by a tweep, @austynzogs on Tuesday via Twitter.

In the video, policeman could be seen beating a lady in green outfit for attempting to record them while confronting a Uber driver.

Another officer and lady could be seen trying to separate them before it escalates.

The tweep who share the video wanted to know if the lady who was arrested last week was freed and her seized phone released.

He wrote: “@Gidi_Traffic Last week police men guarding the palace at Illasan, Lekki Phase 1,allegedly assaulted a lady for attempting to record them during a confrontation with a Uber driver. The lady’s phone was seized & she was also arrested. Has she been freed? @BenHundeyin @Princemoye1”

Reacting to the video, SP Hundeyin said: “The DPO Ilasan waded in, ensured she got her phone back immediately and subjected the officers to disciplinary actions.

“The lady claimed she was injured, for which the officer was mandated to offset her medical expense. The lady went home happy.

“I equally verified from her.”

Hundeyin’s reaction has garnered reactions from Nigerians on Twitter, particularly the part where he said “the lady went home happy”.

A tweep, @zobiafri said: “this made a mess of ur statement., “the lady went home happy”. if it’s a joke,, it’s an expensive one.”

@chris_onah tweeted: “She went home happy like what I don’t understand. What disciplinary actions have been taken against the police officers.”

In the same vein, #CitizenLadimehi said: “Good sir.

“What disciplinary measures has the NPF taken against this “officer”? Such barbaric acts should not be swept under the carpet.

“The NPF that all right thinking Nigerians need, should have no place for “officers” like this.

“He should be dismissed, better off as a tout”
