ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has signed the 2023 appropriation law earlier passed by the State House of Assembly.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong at the end of an enlarged State executive meeting.
The law has a total financial outlay of N700 billion, comprising N344 Billion for recurrent expenditure and N356 billion for capital expenditure.
Also, the release stated that Governor Emmanuel had given approval for the extension of the retirement age for teachers in public schools from 60 to 65 years, saying that it took effect from 30th December, 2022.
The release added that approval was granted for the release of the sum of N675 million for the payment of 2019 leave grant to teachers under the government employ.
It further stated that the Governor gave approval for the remediation of the dump site at Uyo village road and landfill management, and mandated the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals and the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency to execute the task.
