A South-Sudan journalist, identified as @denisdumo has reacted to a report by his fellow countryman, Bukyana Julius, who stated that the journalists who covered the President urinate on himself are either dead or missing.
@bukyanajulius tweeted on Friday that “the journalist who shared the video of president Salva Kir wetting his pants on a national event allegedly committed suicide, his body was found hanging in his residence.”
This tweet preceded an earlier tweet he posted on his Twitter page.
The tweets read: “BREAKING NEWS: All journalists that covered the state event where the @SouthSudanGov president Salva Kir wetted his pants are missing one by one and some found dead. JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME.”
Reacting to his tweet, @denisdumo said: “Mr. Julius, this is for your reference. Kindly crosscheck your sources again.”
He accompanied the tweet with a press release titled, “No South Sudanese Journalist In Jail At The Moment”.
Recall that a video showing Salva Kiir Mayardit, urinating on himself at a public function, went viral few days ago on social media.
The 71-year-old, has been the president of the troubled northeast African country since its founding in 2011.
He has continued to preside over a protracted conflict which has kept the country underdeveloped, with about 82 per cent of its citizens in poverty.
Reacting to @denisdumo’s tweet, @SimonKaggwaNjai demanded to know the journalists whereabout.
“Where are they?” the tweep asked.
Another tweep, added: “What were their names and which media houses were they working for? And who verified the authenticity of the video in question?”
@peterluena called him a liar. “He is a liar. He cannot prove anything.”
“We dont believe you 🤣🤣🤣🤣,” @LillianneAmarie stated.
