Octavia Spencer couldn’t hold back her tears as received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, 8 December, 2022.
The 52-year-old American actress, who won the Oscar for best supporting actress in 2012, became emotionally overwhelmed by the occasion more than once.
At one point, she could be seen dabbing her tears with a tissue.
She was joined by a number of famous friends, including “The Help” co-stars, Viola Davis and Allison Janney, along with her “Spirited” co-star Will Ferrell.
The Academy Award winner looked incredible for the occasion, wearing an elegant black peplum dress and cheetah sandal heels.
The star accessorized her chic look with a silver bracelet and dangling silver earrings.
At first, she joked about needing a little assistance with reading her speech: “I’m at this stage in my life, guys. I need my glasses.
“I’m trying to keep it together because I know I haven’t taken all of my pictures yet, and I want my make-up to be pretty,” Maximo TV reported.
But it wasn’t long before the tears started flowing as the moment sank in – her Walk of Fame star caps a stellar 25-year career.
She was introduced by Ferrell, 55, and Janney, 63, who both dedicated speeches to Octavia before she took to the stage.
“Will and Allison, thank you so much. Will, I have loved you my whole life. And Allison, you know our friendship means the world to me.”
The Help, released in 2011, became a breakout moment for Octavia Spencer, who has accrued a total of 36 film credits in the last decade.
She rose to further prominence after starring in Hidden Figures in 2016, a biopic about a trio of female mathematicians working at NASA in the 1960s.
Alongside Octavia in Hidden Figures were actresses Taraji P. Henson and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star Janelle Monae.
