IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the demise of popular gospel singer, Sammie Okposo who died on Friday morning at the age of 51.
Following the announcement, fellow entertainers, organization leaders took to their social media accounts to mourn the late singer.
@elevationng founder, Goodman Akinlabi paid tribute to gospel music legend.
“Saddens me to hear of the passing of @sammieokposo. He blessed our world with his God-given gift and left indelible marks on earth.
“I sympathize with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
“Rest in peace, my brother.”
Gospel singer, @AdaEhiMoses condoled with the singer’s family and everyone directly affected by Sammie Okposo’s death.
“This afternoon we were hit by the sad news that Bro Sammie Okposo has transitioned. Shocked but we are consoled in the hope that he is alive in the presence of his Maker and God. We pray for the comfort of the Holy Ghost for his family, everyone directly affected by his passing.”
Joey Akan, founder of Afrobeats Intel revealed his plan with the singer to film an episode of a podcast the last time they met in London.
He wrote on Twitter: “I met Sammie Okposo in London, and we agreed to film an episode of the podcast.
“We exchanged numbers and kept in touch, finding the right time and schedule.
“Rest in peace. Strength to his family.”
Actress, Empress Njamah wrote on Instagram: “Sammy why? Why? Answer me. This cut is too DEEP. So many questions that needs answers.
“After calling to pray for me on my birthday, you didn’t tell me it was the last time we will speak. REST IN PEACE @sammieokposo.”
Sharing Okposo’s video on his Facebook page, fellow gospel singer, Tosin Bee, wrote: “Wow! Still can’t believe this. Just last night we were talking about reaching out to you today, that it’s time to release this project that you love so much.
“You poured yourself into it, and constantly following up on the status. Just when we are about to release this project Haaaaaaaa!”
Comedienne Lepacious Bose wrote on Instagram: “No! Nooo!! I refuse to accept this report. Lord, please no.”
Comedian Woli Arole said: “May the Lord comfort the Okposo family. Rest In Peace, Sammie Okposo.”
