ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Enugu State chapter, Bishop Nwachinemere Chukwuma Onyeledo, has advised Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections.
He also urged the electorates not to sell their conscience during the election as it represents their votes, stressing that a human conscience is worth more than N5, 000, N20,000.
Bishop Onyeledo stated this during an interview with the voiceofnaija.ng after his sermon at the Prayer Summit organized by the PFN Enugu State chapter, women’s wing, at the House of Generals International Church Cathedral, Enugu on Saturday.
The cleric said: “I will tell Nigerians, do not listen to gimmicks and the antics of the evil men. Do not vote your religion, do not vote your ethnicity, vote in the right thing. Do not sale your conscience because your vote is your conscience. The human conscience is worth more than N5, 000, N20,000.
“I am asking the Nigerians to go out there and say I am going to vote my conscience, whether he wins or not. People say no, don’t waste your vote, and I tell people waste your vote, do it and let the people know that, listen, what you did, I don’t like it. That is what I am telling Nigerians.
“They should vote and let the people who have ruined this nation know that we don’t like what they did. Whether they succeed or not, it does not matter. Let us vote our conscience.”
On his central message, he said there are right things to be done for the healing of Nigeria, both individually and as a church.
“It is not enough to fast, it is not enough to pray. There are issues in our lives, individually and corporately as a church and as a nation.
“Things are going wrong, innocent blood is been shed and God will not allow those innocent bloods to not be atoned for. Except there is adequate mediation, intercession so that we can by the blood of Jesus have change of life style and a commitment to a change, that is what is needed,” Onyeledo added.
On her part, the Co-ordinator Enugu State PFN, Women’s Wing, Dr. Ijeoma Onyeledo appealed to all women to make sure their votes counts in the 2023 elections.
According to her, if people fail to vote, it is easier to rig the election.
“I want to appeal to every women to come out so that we can cast our votes. I am sorry to confess, I have never done that, I have never cast vote before. So I want to encourage every woman. Next year I will vote, I will be there, I will vote and I will ensure that my vote is counted. So I want to encourage every woman to come out, let us go and vote. Enough is enough.
“The truth is that, if you don’t vote, you give them opportunity to rig the election, but when you cast your vote, there won’t be enough room for rigging. So we need to come out, you know that person that is your choice, go and vote him or her. I believe that when we do that, then we are going to have a greater result.”
Speaking on the theme of the event “Averting the Times of Troubled Waters”, Mrs. Onyeledo said that women have better opportunities to pray now, for their families and especially, for the nation.
“We have every opportunities now to talk to God especially concerning our nation. You know the things that are happening. It is time for us to talk to God. If you talk to God, whatever the enemy has planned over this nation, it will be averted.
“God has given us that open cheque to shape this nation the way we want it, and to shape our families. We talk to God concerning our families, concerning your husbands before mighty waters arise. Whether you like it or not, there are going to be trials, but if we pray ahead of time, it will not touch us. It will not get to us because we are going to avert it.”
Also, Dr. Agu Grace the Assistant Secretary PFN, Women’s Wing Enugu State, advised the women to get their PVCs, vote wisely with their conscience and leave the rest for God.
She said: “Women should get their PVCs. So many women are sitting down in their homes, saying that they will rig election. We should get our PVCs and do our own first and leave the rest for God.
“We cannot keep on praying when we have not done the works. So God said we should pray and we should also work. You don’t pray and keep your hands folded, you pray and work. And our work is get our PVCs, come out on election day and vote. When you are voting, vote wisely and vote with your conscience.
“The major point of the message is like an encouragement to us, that when the person you are coming to meet is already ready for you and it’s encouragement”, she said adding that God is available to answer them.
