ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- HRH Eze Peter Ezechikere Njemanze, of Amawom Autonomous Community Owerri, Imo State has claimed he knows the criminals operating in his community.
According to the Monarch, the issue of community policing is better achieved through the traditional rulers in various communities.
He stated this during an interview with the journalists at the flag-off ceremony of the Nigeria Police Force Two-days Workshop for Stakeholders of Community Policing in South-East Geo-political Zone, on Wednesday, 16 November, 2022, at Police Detective, Enugu.
“I believe that the police force have now re-engineered themselves to make sure that the community policing works out at the very high pace by communicating and ensuring that the Ezes of respective communities are involved. It is better done using the Ezes to facilitate the issue of community policing at that level.
“In my community, I know the thieves. If you are an arm robber, I know you so long as you dwell in that community, I must know you.”
He appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the entire Police force to make sure that the Police officers are given a deserved remuneration.
His words: “Anyone working must be well paid to be able to do his job very well. If you want to do your job well, you must be duely paid.
“The Federal government of Nigeria must make sure that this level of policemen are fed well. You don’t run after a thief with empty stomach. This is the area they should be very very careful of. They should help. That is my appeal to the Federal and the entire police force to make sure that the people there are given a deserved remuneration.”
