ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has inaugurated 305 liaison officers for wards in the state.
The Governor noted that the officers were not accountable to anyone but him, hence, they are to report straight to his office and defend the achievements of his government.
Performing the ceremony at the Government House in Owerri, Governor Uzodinma said their inauguration was a way of enhancing his administration’s inclusiveness and ensuring that more critical stakeholders are engaged to work and contribute their quota to the administration.
He reminded the officers that before now Imo people were living in fear of insecurity but thanked God that the situation has been brought under control with relative peace now reigning in the state.
Uzodinma said their appointments would sustain the peace that has been achieved by the government in their environments.
The Governor further informed them that effective from the day of their inauguration, they had become part and parcel of the government, and challenged them to go and defend government’s programmes and activities alongside other party structures already on ground.
He added that by their appointments, they are members of the political Bureau, even as he cautioned them not to be disrespectful to their leaders at home, noting that there should be no conflicts in their domains.
