ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Akwa Ibom State police command has confirmed the abduction of Sir Ignatius Brown, a former permanent secretary under Godswill Akpabio’s administration.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macedon, made the confirmation through a telephone call. Daily Post reports.

Macedon said the command has arrested one suspect in connection with the crime adding that the suspect is availing the police with useful information on the case.

His words, “we have received that report already, and as we speak, preliminary investigation is ongoing. The Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatoye Durusinmi, has detailed the Officer-in-Charge of kidnapping and other tactical teams to ensure that the victim is successfully rescued and reunited with his family.

“Based on the CP’s instructions, a lot has already been done. We have one person in our custody who is helping us with the necessary information, and I believe that the kidnapped victim will soon regain his freedom.”

It was gathered that the victim is the Chairman of Saint John’s Catholic Church Council, Abak Local Government Area and was kidnapped along Udokpo street while returning from a Church meeting.

An eyewitness, Aniefiok Marcus narrated that the kidnappers trailed him from the church and overpowered the driver close to his house, after shooting sporadically to scare away people, they zoomed off with the victim’s SUV which was later recovered.
