Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped for Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea on Saturday after he stormed off before the conclusion of Wednesday’s win over Tottenham.
United’s midweek win at home to Tottenham ended on a sour note as Ronaldo was caught leaving the pitch before the full-time whistle, having remained an unused substitute for the duration of the contest.
Subsequent reports suggested that the 37-year-old left the stadium without even heading to the dressing room.
Manager Erik ten Hag is said to be furious by his actions and the club have now confirmed that he will not play any part with the first-team for the weekend’s game against Chelsea.
The club have since confirmed that he has been dropped from the squad.
In a statement released on the website, the news confirmed: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
