Empire co-stars, Trai and Grace Byers are expecting their first child after 6 years of marriage.
The annoucement was made at the Premiere of Broadway’s The Piano Lesson.
Grace confirmed the news on Instagram by sharing photos of Trai holding her bump as they posed for photos on the red carpet of the opening night of Trai’s broadway debut.
Making his Broadway debut in August Wilson’s ‘The Piano Lesson’ is a homecoming for Trai Byers.
August Wilson has been integral to Byers’ studies, especially while training at Yale School of Drama, where he was an understudy for a production of The Piano Lesson.
The Tony-nominated play has its own roots at Yale, which was the site for its world premiere in 1987, three years before it debuted on Broadway.
The production’s cast included Oscar honoree Samuel L. Jackson as Boy Willie, who now returns to the Pulitzer Prize-winning play as Doaker Charles. LaTanya Richardson Jackson, who is married to Jackson, made her Broadway debut as director of the first Broadway revival held on 13 October, at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Trai is best known for playing Andre Lyon in the Fox television series Empire and Grace played Anika Calhoun in the same series.
The two actually met on the set of the show and they hit it off right away.
