IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, was absent on Thursday as the presidential candidates of other political parties were physically present for the signing of the now-customary peace pact.
However, Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, was present at the signing alongside, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party among others.
Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, tweeted about the signing at the National Peace Accord and also shared photos from the event.
He wrote: “Today, at the signing of the National Peace Accord. It is a patriotic duty that we owe the country and a duty I am personally committed to. I also believe, personally, that our roles as democrats should be established on fidelity to fair and credible elections.
“We as a nation must be united in this belief. To this end, I urge the public and members of the @OfficialPDPNig to conduct the campaigns peacefully and adhere to all extant laws on hate speech, despite any and every provocation. -AA”
