IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare has emerged the Gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State

He scored 422 votes to beat two other contestants.

Dare defeated Ibrahim Shehu Bakawuye and Hafiz Nahuce who scored one vote each, saying that none of the contestants was seen at the venue even though they were all said to be in Gusau, the State capital.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the electoral committee from the party’s national secretariat, Phillips Hassan Hyati said four of the votes were invalid.

When addressing newsmen after the Congress, the electoral chairman, Hyati said the Congress was free, fair, credible and acceptable, stressing that none of the contestants challenged the election.

“We did all we could to ensure a perfect congress which by all standards would be regarded as free, fair, credible and acceptable Congress as no member raised any eyebrows” he added.

Hyati, however, commended the delegates for showing maturity and orderliness throughout the Congress, assuring that members would wholeheartedly accept the congress.

When interviewed, the delegates in Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare’s camp expressed satisfaction over the way and manner the Congress was conducted, saying it was perfect.

“We were very optimistic that at the end of the Congress, Dauda Lawal Dare would go away with a landslide victory and he actually did,” they said.
