American actor Nicolas Cage and his wife Riko Shibata, have welcomed their first child together.
The 58-year-old actor, and his wife, 27, welcomed a baby daughter named August Francesca Coppola Cage.
A rep for the couple told People: “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter. Mother and daughter are doing fine.”
This is Nicolas Cage’s third child. He is already father to Kal-El Coppola, 16, who he shares with his ex Alice Kim, and Weston Coppola, 31, who he welcomed with Christina Fulton.
Nicolas and Riko tied the knot in February 2021 and announced they were ‘elated’ to be expecting a baby in January 2022.
It seems the couple changed their plans for the baby’s name, after previously revealing they wanted to call her Lennon Augie.
However, the name still honours Nic’s late father, August Coppola, a literature professor and the brother of director Francis Ford Coppola.
The actor previously opened up about being a hands-on father when he was promoting his film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, telling People: “There’s no version of Nic Cage in reality that doesn’t want to spend time with his children.
He added: “I turned down Lord of the Rings and I turned down Matrix because I didn’t want to go to New Zealand for three years or Australia for three years because I needed to be home with my son Weston. That’s a fact.”
